Building description

East gable of the house

The Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation (BLfD) describes the building as follows:

" Residential house - free-standing two-storey saddle roof construction with standing bay, 1552 (dendrochronologically dated), expansion of the first attic floor around 1771 (dendrochronologically dated), rebuilt in the 19th century and 1935, front door with carved fields, second half of the 18th century "

Beginning in 2013 (gutting of the building), the building was extensively renovated, dismantled and expanded. The existing floors were restored to their original state by adding brick paving, and the dormer built in since the renovation in 1935 was removed. The roof structure was closed (as originally) and statically updated. The roof on the extension (west gable) was converted and a staircase was installed in this extension as access to the upper and top floors. The existing front door from 1788 has been restored. All plastered surfaces were renewed with clay plaster also on the two-storey upright bay window (east gable). The windows were partially renovated by installing box windows made of wood.

Preserved baroque door

For this relatively careful reconstruction of a monument, the building received the bronze monument preservation award from the Bavarian Chamber of Engineers in 2016.
The jury of the Bavarian Chamber of Engineers gave the following reasons:

A comparison of the images of the previous state with the images after the repair shows that the monument was handled with care. The repair and return measures were carried out in exemplary technical and design quality. The solutions found are captivating because of their reserved unobtrusiveness while observing the historical elements and structures. The result of the renovation represents a tangible continuation of the building history of the house in connection with the modern use that is always required. "

The Stadtheimatpflegeverein Freising awarded the renovated building the Stadtbildpflege-Preis 2016.
