On the area of the district there are 17 military cemeteries with a total of over 21,000 mostly British dead from the First World War, as well as a large mine crater with a diameter of 79 meters ( Caterpillar ) from the same period. To the south of the city is "Hill 60", which was fought over during the fighting in the Ypres arch .

Zillebeke maintains a partnership with Seelbach in Baden-Württemberg , the name of which goes back to the same root ( sala + baki = place to live by the stream).
