Zilog Z8

The Zilog Z8 is a single-chip microcontroller with an 8-bit arithmetic unit that was developed by Zilog Inc. The smallest version (Z86E02) has 61 registers (RAM) and 512 bytes of ROM , the largest Z8 microcontrollers have 238 registers and up to 16  KiByte PROM. Most types of Z8 microcontrollers are still available today.

On the periphery, it has two 8-bit counters / timers, a watchdog , two analog comparators and up to 4x 8-bit parallel ports. In addition, the instruction set supports the possibility of implementing a serial interface.

The successor is the Z8 Encore! - and the Z8 Plus series, which also have flash memory .

In the GDR it was built as U881… U886 .
