Zimdancehall

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Zimdancehall , also Zimbabwe Dancehall , is a sub-genre of Reggae / Dancehall and comes from Zimbabwe .

Zimdancehall started out in the late 1980s with local stars taking inspiration from Jamaican musicians while developing their own Zimbabwean style. In the 1990s, a larger generation of Zimdancehall artists grew up and Startime Supa Power was one of the first to get the artists to record their songs. The influence on the Zimbabwean music market grew steadily, is now heard by young and old and occupies a large percentage of Zimbabwean radio. The Zimdancehall Awards , which are given regularly, also contribute to this .

Zimdancehall is considered a political outlet for the economically oppressed population of Zimbabwe.
