Circu Island ( Arabic زركو, DMG Zirkū ) is an island in the Persian Gulf about 75 nautical miles (about 140 km) northwest of the city of Abu Dhabi and belongs to the emirate of Abu Dhabi . The island is 7.47 km² and reaches a height of 161 meters.

Circu was a refuge for cormorants and other birds until 1978 when the Zakum Development Company ( ZADCO ) began to develop it for oil processing. Today there are facilities for oil processing, a terminal for oil loading and an airport on the island. Recently, ZADCO has commissioned studies to examine the island's biodiversity . According to a report from August 2015, more than 1000 people live and work on the island. In contrast to the island of Delma , which is around 83 kilometers southwest of it, Zirku has no freshwater resources of its own and was therefore never naturally inhabited.
