Circulation (hydrology)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In hydrology and oceanology , the circulation of water is studied in various dimensions and time. In doing so, one considers their drives, e.g. the thermohaline drive , their regular and mostly medium-scale circulation patterns, e.g. the five types of circulation ( mix types ) in lakes , as well as the large-scale and highly individualized circulation phenomena in seas and oceans such as ocean currents and the global conveyor belt . In smaller scales the considerations of hydrology merge into those of fluid mechanics .

In limnology one speaks of the different types of circulation , the autumn and spring circulation and the water circulation of a lake (see also the lake ecosystem ).
