A wealthy lady founded the nunnery in 1212 by buying the church of the holy martyrs Gervasius and Protasius . It was closed from 1810 to 1818. From 1870 the local authorities forbade the admission of novices and ordered the closure of the monastery if the strength of the convent fell to six nuns. When this number was reached in 1909, the remaining sisters moved to San Giacomo di Veglia, today a district of Vittorio Veneto. In Belluno, the monastery church (from the 17th century) has been preserved as a parish church in Via Gervasio (west of the Martinsspital).

In San Giacomo di Veglia a count made two arcade-reinforced sheds (with horse stables) available, in which the monastery is still located today. The thirty nuns convent had been Abbess Maria Rosaria Saccol (* 1929, professed 1951, Abbess 1966, resigned in 2017, successor: Mariapaola Dal Zotto) for more than 50 years.
