The Cistercian convent Calatrava since 1219 a monastery of Cistercian nuns first at Amaya , 1568 in Burgos and since 1980 in San Cristóbal, a suburb of Burgos, Spain .
history
The Cistercian order of Calatrava founded the monastery of San Felices de Amaya ("Saint Felix") or de Barrios for female family members in 1219 near Amaya (today: Barrio de San Felices, municipality of Sotresgudo), 45 kilometers northwest of Burgos . In 1568 the convent moved to the city of Burgos and in 1980 to the north-eastern suburb of San Cristóbal. He belongs to the Cistercian Congregation of San Bernardo (CCSB) . In Barrio de San Felices there is still a successor building on site. In Burgos, the street name Calle Calatravas is reminiscent of the former monastery. In San Cristóbal there is the Monasterio San Felices de Calatrava (also: Convento de las Madres Calatravas ) in the street Barrio San Cristóbal 16.
