Zlatni ljiljan ( German  golden lily ) was the highest military award of the army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina during the Bosnian War in Bosnia and Herzegovina . It was given to soldiers and officers for courage and bravery and deeds in fighting the enemy.

The "Golden Lily" medal is comparable to the earlier award of the Order of the People's Hero in Yugoslavia.

The Golden Lily was awarded to 1,742 people.

The six-fold golden lily is part of the former national flag of Bosnia and Herzegovina from 1992 to 1998.

The golden lily is a symbol of millennial Bosnia, it is an endemic flower that grows in some areas of Bosnia (lat.Lilium bosniacum). It is considered a symbol of purity, innocence and beauty. Many Bosnian heroes used them as a symbol throughout history, starting with the noble family of the royal dynasty Kotromanić. The lily was also characteristic of Bosnian courtyards and gardens. It can also be found engraved on tombstones of Bosnian martyrs.
