Order of the folk hero

The Order of the People's Hero ( Serbo-Croatian : Orden narodnog heroja , Slovenian : Red narodnega heroja , Macedonian : Orden na naroden heroj / Орден на народен херој) was a state award of Yugoslavia . It was founded in 1943 and, with the establishment of the Federal People's Republic of Yugoslavia in November 1945 and the subsequent forms of government, was incorporated into the respective order system.

Foundation, endowment

The order was founded on August 15, 1943 by the Anti-Fascist Council of the People's Liberation of Yugoslavia , chaired by Marshal Josip Broz Tito . It should be awarded "[...] to fighters and commanders of the Yugoslav People's Army as well as other individuals who have distinguished themselves in battles against the enemy through extraordinarily brave achievements and who have served as a special example of bravery". In exceptional cases, the award could be presented to socio-political organizations or associations, even if the conditions were the same.
