The Linz Zoo is a zoo in the Upper Austrian capital Linz . It is located at the foot of the Pöstlingberg with a view of the city.

It was opened in 1980 under the motto “European animals, domestic animals and their archetypes”.

Around 650 exotic and native animals from around 110 different species are cared for on an area of ​​around 5.5 hectares, including alpacas , red pandas , ostriches , rheas , emus , coatis , meerkats and numerous species of birds. Caimans , giant snakes and monkeys have their home in the warm tropical house .

The annual number of visitors is around 135,000.
