Zoubaier Baya (born May 15, 1971 in M'saken , Tunisia ) is a former Tunisian professional football player . Baya is currently working as a football expert for various Arab and Tunisian broadcasters.

Baya scored 16 goals in 78 international matches wearing the Tunisian national soccer team .

Baya's talent was recognized early on. In his birthplace M'saken he came into contact with a football for the first time and moved from here to Étoile Sportive du Sahel in Sousse. There he was the central personality in midfield. Until then, his club had mostly been in the shadow of the capital city clubs from Tunis, but in 1997 he and his team won the national championship for the first time. Shortly afterwards, he switched to the German Bundesliga.

From 1997 to 2001 , the midfielder played a total of 85 Bundesliga games (15 goals) for SC Freiburg , as well as 29 games in the 2nd Bundesliga (6 goals). Baya was the first Arab soccer player to wear a Bundesliga club's armband. He then played for the Turkish first division side Beşiktaş Istanbul before returning to Étoile Sportive du Sahel.

On August 16, 2000, Zoubaier Baya played in the world selection against the then reigning world champion France .
