Pizzigano's map from 1424

Zuane Pizzigano was a Venetian cartographer at the beginning of the 15th century .

It is worth mentioning his map from 1424, on which two islands are drawn in the west . Most obvious is the identification with the volcanic Azores . Proponents of transatlantic voyages off Columbus, however, see these islands as evidence of Puerto Rico and the likewise volcanic Guadeloupe in the Caribbean. One island is called con ymana which means “a volcano erupts there” in old Portuguese . The other island is named antilia , making it probably the first cartographic representation of the Phantom Island Antilia .
