Future with Children is an interdisciplinary academy group that deals with fertility development in Central and Western European countries.
Project description
Future with Children - Fertility and Social Development is a project of the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and the German Academy of Natural Scientists Leopoldina , funded by the Jacobs Foundation .
The interdisciplinary and international academy group examines the causes and effects of the comparatively low birth rates in Central and Western European countries such as Germany , Austria and Switzerland .
The family and science policy recommendations of the participating scientists are geared towards the well-being of parents and children in our society. In this respect, the future with children also sees itself as a political and social advisory initiative.
Main topics
The academy group Future with Children is dedicated to four main areas:
- Fertility and demographics
- Sociological foundations of fertility
- Medical-biological perspectives on fertility
- Fertility and Family Policy
The central recommendations of the academy group Future with Children stand up
- realignment of monetary, time and infrastructure policy to support families,
- professionalization of sex education in schools,
- a systematic education about the opportunities and limits of reproductive medicine.
Study of the same name
In October 2012 the academy group published the interdisciplinary study "Future with Children - Fertility and Social Development in Germany, Austria and Switzerland". For the first time, this scientific statement integrates demographic, medical-biological, social-scientific and socio-political findings and perspectives.
