To the golden glove
The bar was founded and named in 1953 by the boxer Herbert Nürnberg , who won the European Boxing Championships in 1937 and 1939 in the lightweight ("Golden Gloves"). Today the pub is run by the founder's grandchildren.
In the novel The Golden Glove , Heinz Strunk deals with sections from the life of the Hamburg serial killer Fritz Honka in the 1970s, who met his victims in the "Golden Glove". The pub is nicknamed "Honka-Stube".
