To the Green Tree (Memmingen)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Gasthof Zum Grünen Baum in Memmingen in Upper Swabia was a listed building. In the course of urban renewal in the area of the former Wegbach settlement , which is under ensemble protection , it was demolished in the 1990s and replaced by a new building.

Old inn

The former inn was a renovated three-storey gabled house with four axes. It was built in the 16th and 17th centuries and had a wrought-iron bracket with oval, gothic stick motifs and gilded rosettes from the first half of the 19th century.

New building

After the demolition, which was hotly discussed in the media, the house was rebuilt in old, Gothic forms. There is a restaurant on the ground floor, the upper floors are used for residential purposes.
