Pluck

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In instrumental music, plucking describes the process in which one or more strings of a plucked instrument are torn or struck with the help of fingertips or fingernails and / or one or more picks (usually a plastic sheet that is held between the fingers). With the classical guitar the finger (nail) strike is common, with the western and electric guitars and the instruments of the mandolin family , the strings are mainly struck with one or more picks.

A wider range of plucking techniques has been developed for guitar music ( country music ), for example picking .

Also strings are occasionally plucked; the instructions to play are called pizzicato .

The strings of a harpsichord are also plucked or torn - but this is done with keels that are controlled via a keyboard .
