To the cat (Bad Kösen)
The Gastwirtschaft Zur Katzen is a historic inn in the Bad Kösen district of the city of Naumburg (Saale) . The two- to three-storey brick building in the style of historicism with Art Nouveau elements is located on the Rudelsburg promenade not far from the level crossing over the Thuringian Railway .
history
As early as the 18th century, a field tavern was operated on the left bank of the Saale on the road leading from Kösen to Lengefeld . It was owned by the Kreipitzsch manor . In 1804 it is named cat in a rescript of the Schönberg court and is said to have "existed for a long time and for a long time". The name is probably derived from the Katzenholz on the Katerberg across the Saale .
There used to be a funicular ferry near the cat, which made it possible to cross the Saale on the way to the Rudelsburg . In the 19th century, the house was a popular and nationally known excursion restaurant, which was also listed in the Baedeker Germany edition., At times with a hotel or guesthouse. The current main building is inscribed and dated to 1901. Today it houses a transport company. A disco is housed in the former hall extension.
