Coexistence guarantee for old people

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Cohabitation guarantee for old people is a legislative initiative in Sweden which aims to give the spouse of a person in need of care the right to live in an inpatient care center and thus guarantee old couples an evening together.

history

The legislative initiative came about through the courage of 94-year-old Arne Kojefors, whose 86-year-old wife Gunnel, suffering from dementia, needed a nursing home. Arne should come to terms with visiting hours. But Arne said it was terrible to fall asleep alone at night without his gunnels. He said it should be possible to add a second bed. And he could still take care of himself and pay for himself.

After Arne Kojefors went to the press in 2011, there was also an initiative on Facebook Arne and Gunnel have to stay together with 9000 supporters. After a word of power from the Minister of Social Affairs Göran Hägglund , the two were given a couple's apartment.
