Zvi Hashin

Zvi Hashin (born June 1929 ; died October 29, 2017 ) was an Israeli materials scientist.

Life

Hashin was a professor in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Tel Aviv . He published on fiber-reinforced plastics, in particular with the fundamentals of the physically based failure criteria of fiber-plastic composites . His work is seen as one of the foundations for the Puck intermediate fiber breakage criterion. In 2007 he was awarded the Israel Prize and in 2012 the Benjamin Franklin Medal . He was a member of the National Academy of Engineering .
