Twelve Apostles , Church and Parish Center

Twelve Apostles is the patronage of thesecond Catholic churchnext to Liebfrauen in the city of Langenhagen , Hanover region .

The construction activity in the southern part of Langenhagen and the influx of Catholic expellees in the first decades after the Second World War had allowed the project of building a church and the establishment of a parish to mature.

In 1970 a parish vicarie was branched off from the already existing Langenhagen parish in the southern part of Langenhagen , in which the new church with parish center was built in 1972/73. It was created according to plans by the architects Ernst-Otto Rossbach and Hans-Hermann Priesemann and is located on Weserweg (corner of Taunusweg). The foundation stone was laid on April 12, 1972, and inaugurated on June 29, 1973 by Bishop Heinrich Maria Janssen . The bright church space, which is centered on the altar, is determined by nested rectangular components, exposed concrete strips and large motif stained glass windows . In 1991 the church was enriched with a bell tower, designed as a simple open bell stand with three bells. In 1999, a pastoral care unit was formed from the two parishes "Liebfrauen" and "Twelve Apostles" , from which on November 1, 2006 today's parish of Liebfrauen emerged.

In 1975 the neighboring kindergarten was built and put into operation, previously rooms in the community center were used for this. Around 75 children between the ages of three and six are cared for in three groups in the kindergarten.
