A two-tone excitation , also known as a differential tone process, is the feeding of two frequencies into a system:

This two-tone excitation allows the intermodulation products of the system and their performance to be determined. This is e.g. B. required when determining the third order intersection (IP3).

The suppression of these unwanted spectral components is desirable in high-frequency systems.
