from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Zybex is a horizontal shoot 'em up developed by Zeppelin Games for one or two players. It appeared in 1988 for Atari 8-bit computers , C64 and ZX Spectrum .

Gameplay

The player embodies a rebel in a spacesuit , shoots his way through the enemy formations and has to find a crystal from the end of each level that the boss has.

Course of the game

The playing field scrolls sideways and is alternately on the surface or in a cave. The opponents attack in formations. Shot down opponents sometimes leave score tokens, lives and weapon upgrade tokens behind. Two players can play at the same time.

weapons

There are five different weapons, including a forward shot, bolt, or oblique shot. A weapon can be expanded up to a maximum of the fourth level. During the game you can change the previously collected weapons with the fire button. The built-in autofire puts the emphasis on evading and aiming. When you die, you lose a weapon upgrade level.

Level

When you have completed the first of the 16 levels, you can select the next level from a list. For the last three levels, however, you have to have completed all previous levels.

graphic

Although the game on the Atari only has a resolution of 160 × 96 pixels, the graphics are very atmospheric.
