Michael Owens

Michael "Mike" Owens (born before 1982) is a special effects artist , the 2011 for Hereafter - Life after the Oscar in the category Best Visual Effects was nominated.

Life

He grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and was employed by Industrial Light and Magic in Marin County in 1982 . There he initially worked as an effects cameraman on films such as ET - The Extra Terrestrial and Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan . In 1987 he first worked as a VFX Supervisor at The Witches of Eastwick . Films like 101 Dalmatians , The Mercury Puzzle and Rendezvous with Joe Black followed in this capacity .

In 2000 he worked with Clint Eastwood for the first time at Space Cowboys . In the following years, the collaboration on Flags of Our Fathers , Letters from Iwo Jima and Gran Torino was deepened. In 2011 he was nominated for an Oscar in the category Best Visual Effects for Hereafter , for which he created a tsunami scene .
