mode
The league was played in the 2007/08 season using the same mode as the previous season:
- Similar to the National Hockey League and the German Ice Hockey League , both teams only have a maximum of 4 field players in the extension of a game.
- The determination of the two athletic relegated teams is again done by play-downs of the last four teams in play-off mode.
- For the teams in 9th and 10th place, the season is over again after the preliminary round.
- In the last possible play-off or play-down game in a series, the game is extended until a hit is scored. The previously common decision by a penalty shootout will be abolished.
Player licenses
- A maximum of 15 field players with a German player license and born before January 1, 1984 or without a German game license per game may be listed on the score sheet.
- A maximum of 5 players without a German player license may be listed on the score sheet, but an unlimited number of players without a German player license can be signed up until the transfer deadline.
- Players who are eligible to play for a selection of the DEB and who were born on or after January 1, 1984 can get a sponsorship license for a team in the Oberliga .
- Funding license players must have played at least ten games for the second division team by the end of the main round (March 16) in order to be eligible to continue playing in the play-offs or play-downs for the club.
