Alexander Dotzler (born September 12, 1984 in Regensburg ) is a German ice hockey defender who will be under contract with the Dresdner Eislöwen in the DEL2 from the 2019/20 season .
Career
Dotzler began his career in the offspring of the Eisbären Regensburg and was part of the Eisbären professional squad for the first time in the 2000/01 season , with which he was henceforth active in the Oberliga Süd . With the Regensburgers, the Regensburg-based player was able to move up to the second highest German division, the 2nd Bundesliga , at the end of the season . After the left-handed shooter was on the ice only nine times in his first season for the polar bears, he was part of the regular squad in the following years and played over 200 games in the 2nd Bundesliga in five years. Dotzler's best year in Regensburg was also his last. During the 2006/07 season , the defensive player was able to score nine points in a total of 55 league games.
In the summer of 2007, those responsible for SC Bietigheim-Bissingen turned to the then 23-year-old, who then left his hometown to lace up his skates for the then league competitor Bietigheim Steelers. Since at the end of October 2008 several licensed players from the Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg were canceled due to injuries, the Wolfsburg management provided both Alexander Dotzler and his teammate Dirk Wrobel with a sponsorship license , so that both were eligible to play for the DEL team. However, both players only played one game each for Wolfsburg.
For the 2009/10 season Dotzler moved to the Hamburg Freezers in the German Ice Hockey League , where he initially received a contract for one year. This was extended for another year in February 2010. In August 2011 he received a try-out contract with league rivals Straubing Tigers . Dotzler completed a total of five seasons with Niederbayern before switching back to the Grizzlys Wolfsburg. After a season in Wolfsburg, Alexander Dotzler returned to the Straubing Tigers for the 2017/18 DEL season . The following season 2018/19 the defender also started with the Lower Bavarian club, but switched to league competitor Iserlohn Roosters in December at his own request . For the 2019/20 season , Dotzler signed a contract with the Dresdner Eislöwen from the DEL2 .
International
At the U-18 World Cup in 2002 , Alexander Dotzler reached tenth place with the German junior national team and thus rose with the team to the B-World Cup. In the eight games he played, the defender was unable to achieve a scorer point.
