Henry for Lyon 2012

Amandine Chantal Henry (born September 28, 1989 in Lille ) is a French soccer player .

Club career

The midfielder began playing football as a teenager at OSM Lomme , Iris Club Lambersart and, from 2004, at FCF Hénin-Beaumont in her home region in northern France . In 2005 she was accepted into the Center technique national Fernand-Sastre and also played for its league team . Two years later, Amandine Henry was hired by the first division club Olympique Lyon , with whom she won her first national championship title in 2008 and since then seven more national championships every year. At Olympiques Cup victory in 2008 she was not used in the final because she needed more than a year of convalescence after a kneecap operation; At the time, it was feared that she would have to end her sporting activities at the age of 18. But then she was in the 2010 final, which was defeated against Turbine Potsdam in the Champions League on penalties; she was one of the French women who couldn't convert her penalty. In 2011 she played the final there again and won this European competition with Lyon as well as a year later .

In Lyon's wiveship, she was one of the leaders who, according to Camille Abily  , could only criticize Henry's weakness for her Chihuahua , which she often takes with her in her handbag. National coach Philippe Bergeroo praised Henry's versatility: “ With the ball at your feet, you can march through an opposing defensive line or push forward in their back in a flash. In addition ... she is extremely purposeful, not immediately snapped, but ... self-critical ".
From summer 2016, Henry accepted a new challenge at the US first division club Portland Thorns FC . From January to June 2017, while NWSL play was suspended, she returned to the French Division 1, where she was eligible to play on loan for Paris Saint-Germain FC . In her first competitive game for PSG ( Cup sixteenth finals at Arras FCF ) she contributed a goal to the 5-0 victory; a week later she followed up with a point goal at AF Rodez .

In the 2017 season , Portland, where Amandine Henry plays with Tobin Heath , Lindsey Horan , Nadia Nadim and Christine Sinclair , again qualified for the play-offs. After graduation, Henry returned to Olympique Lyon; She had agreed on a contract with her old and new club until the summer of 2021. With an annual salary of 360,000 euros, she is the second best paid soccer player in the world after Ada Hegerberg .

Amandine Henry (October 2013)

Amandine Henry has played a total of 30 games for several French junior selection teams from youth B and scored ten goals. At the U-19 European Championship in 2007 , she led her womanhood as a captain to the semi-finals. Since April 2009 she has also been a national team player . At the 2009 European Championships she was part of the Bleues squad , but only played one game against the Netherlands .

National coach Bruno Bini had also appointed Henry to his provisional French squad for the World Cup in Germany in 2011 , but did not take him to Germany after all. It was not until May 2013 that he included them in this circle again. Despite an injury, coach Bini called her into the EM squad in 2013 and even used her in her only game there in the starting XI. Under Bini's successor Philippe Bergeroo , Henry developed into a regular player. She was also part of the squad for the 2015 World Cup ; at the tournament in Canada she was named "Player of the Game" twice and was awarded the Silver Ball as the second best field player despite France's relatively early elimination . Henry also took second place in the 2015 European Football Player of the Year poll . The FIFA had added to their ten players extensive selection, from the end of the year, the World Player 2015 determined and won the Ballon d'Or. In 2016 she was in the French squad for the Olympic football tournament and was also used by Olivier Echouafni , who subsequently replaced Bergeroo and who even named her captain on his debut. In 2017 she was in France's European Championship squad and was then also considered by Echouafni's successor Corinne Diacre .

At the beginning of October 2018, just five minutes after the kick-off of her 77th international match, she fell victim to an opponent's overly tough attack. The dislocation suffered in the area of the collarbone and shoulder bones surprisingly put her out of action for only five weeks. She is part of the French 23-man squad for the 2019 World Cup in her own country , where she continues to play the role of team captain.

So far, Amandine Henry has played 92 A-internationals for the Bleues , in which she scored 13 goals (as of March 10, 2020).
