Lindsey Michelle Horan (born May 26, 1994 in Golden , Colorado ) is an American soccer player who has been under contract with Portland Thorns FC since the 2016 season and played for the United States women's national soccer team for the first time in 2013 , with which she played in 2019 won the world title.

Horan began her career in 2010 with the W-League participant Colorado Rush , for whom she played in a total of 17 league games in three seasons and scored eleven goals. In the summer of 2012 she signed her first professional contract with the French first division club Paris Saint-Germain and in this context also turned down a scholarship at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill . With PSG, she was runner-up in Division 1 Féminine four times and was the youngest player for PSG during her first two seasons. In 2012/13 she was the club's top scorer with 17 goals together with Kosovare Asllani . In October 2013, she played for PSG in the UEFA Women's Champions League for the first time , but failed in the round of 32 after a 2-1 away defeat and a goalless draw at home at Swedish champions Tyresö FF . A year later, league rivals Olympique Lyon could be eliminated in the round of 16 . In the last sixteen she scored her first goal in the Champions League in a 1-0 home win against Twente Enschede . In the following rounds, including the lost final, it was not used.

In 2015/16 it was only used in the sixteenth and sixteenth finals. The U-20 World Cup in 2012 due to injury missed Horan. In the 2014 CONCACAF U-20 championship , she scored four goals, all of which she scored 6-0 in the first round match against Costa Rica, three of them as a “flawless” hat trick . After she was used again in the second round game against Jamaica, she was not used in the following games, as she returned to her club Paris Saint-Germain , who met Olympique Lyon on January 18 in the top game of Division 1 Féminine . In August 2014, she took part in the U-20 World Cup in Canada. There she reached the quarter-finals with her team, but was subject to North Korea's selection on penalties.

On March 8, 2013, she was used for the first time for the A selection of the USA as part of the Algarve Cup in the game against China . She then had one more appearance in November against Brazil 4-1 , but then had to wait until October 2015 - again against Brazil - for further appearances, but was then in the starting line-up for the first time and was then a regular player. In the next game on December 10th against Trinidad and Tobago , she played over 90 minutes for the first time and scored her first goal for the senior team in stoppage time to make it 6-0.

She was part of the roster for the 2016 Summer Olympics qualifier , which the United States won. She was used in four games and was only not used in the 10-0 in the last group game against Puerto Rico when some regular players were spared. In the final against Canada, she scored the first goal in the 53rd minute (final score 2-0). She was chosen as one of the top two central midfielders in the tournament's all-star team. At the Olympic tournament she was substituted on three times for short appearances in the four games and only played for 90 minutes in the 2-2 draw against Colombia . Due to the defeat on penalties in the quarter-finals against Sweden , in which she was one of the successful shooters, the US girls did not reach the semi-finals for the first time. In total, it was used in 24 of the US team's 25 international matches in 2016. In 2017 it was used in 13 of 16 international matches. In 2018 she made 19 international matches, starting 16 times and not being used once. She won three tournaments, the SheBelieves Cup 2018 , the Tournament of Nations 2018 , where she scored the 1: 1 equalizer in the 90th minute in the game against Australia and ultimately won the tournament before the Australians tied on points, and the CONCACAF Women's Gold Cup 2018 . The USA qualified for the 2019 World Cup by winning the Gold Cup. On May 1, 2019, it was nominated for the 2019 World Cup . At the World Cup she was used in six games and scored two goals. She was in the starting line-up four times. It was only not used in the final.
