Bağlar ( Kurdish Rezik ) is a city in the district of the same name in the Turkish province of Diyarbakır and at the same time a district in the south of the Büyükşehir belediyesi Diyarbakır (metropolitan municipality / metropolitan province ) created in 1993 .

The history of Bağlar is identical to that of Diyarbakır. The city of Diyarbakır was declared a metropolitan commune in December 1993 and received a lord mayor's office. At that time, mayor offices were established in the Sur and Yenişehir districts. Bağlar was raised to a municipality ( Belediye ) in 1994 , got its own mayor and consisted of seven districts ( Machalla ). In 2004, 21 villages and 24 hamlets in the vicinity of the city were placed under the administration of Bağlar. In March 2008, Bağlar was finally raised to a district (tr: İlçe ).
