Brenda Lawson

Brenda Catherine Lawson (born October 30, 1967 in Nelson ) is a former New Zealand rower .

At the 1990 World Championships , Brenda Lawson competed in two boat classes. She finished sixth in the four without a helmsman and fourth in eight . In 1991 , the New Zealand eighth came only in eighth place.

In 1992 Brenda Lawson formed a double scull with Philippa Baker . The two New Zealanders finished fourth at the Olympic Games in Barcelona, about one and a half seconds behind the third-placed Chinese. In 1993 Lawson started in the World Cup regattas in one and won the races in Melbourne and Mexico City. At the World Championships , she and Baker won the double scull title ahead of the Germans and Bulgarians. In 1994 the two defended their title against the Canadians and the Germans. In 1995 the Canadians won ahead of the Dutch women, Lawson and Baker won the bronze medal. At the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta , the two New Zealanders reached the final again, but only came in sixth there.
