Julia Ludwika Michalska-Płotkowiak (born July 21, 1985 in Kozienice ) is a Polish rower . She won bronze in a double scull at the 2012 Olympics .

Career

Julia Michalska was 2003 junior world champion in one . In 2004 she won her first World Cup victory in the lightweight single in Poznan, but later she only started in the boat classes without weight restrictions. After a fourth place in 2004, she finished second at the U23 World Championships in 2005 , and in 2006 she won the title. In the 2007 World Cup season, she reached the A-final in a single in all regattas , and took eighth place at the 2007 World Rowing Championships . A year later she reached the A-final only once in the World Cup, but at the highlight of the season, the Olympic Games in Beijing , she reached the finals and rowed to sixth place.

In 2009 Michalska won the World Cup regatta in Munich in a double scull with Magdalena Fularczyk . After finishing second in Lucerne, the pair won the World Championships in Poznan and won one of two gold medals for the Polish team. In 2010 Fularczyk and Michalska received the silver medal at the 2010 European Rowing Championships behind the German boat. At the 2010 World Rowing Championships in New Zealand, the Polish women took third place behind the British and Australians. A year later, the Polish women were fifth at the 2011 World Rowing Championships in Bled. At the Olympiaregatta 2012 in Eton , the two Poles were again behind the British and Australians.
