Chen Xinhua

Chen Xinhua ( Chinese  陈新华 , Pinyin Chén Xīnhuá ; born January 30, 1960 in Fujian , People's Republic of China ) is a table tennis player from China who has been playing for England since 1990, and won several medals in continental and mid-1990s from the late 1970s to the mid-1990s Won world championships. He also won the 1985 World Cup tournament. In the 1990s he also played in the German Bundesliga.

Career in China

Until about 1987, Chen Xinhua played under the Chinese flag. His first major international success was winning the Asian Cup in 1978 with the Chinese men's team, and he also reached the semi-finals in singles. He was nominated for the four world championships from 1981 to 1987. He won gold in the team competition in 1985 and 1987 . In mixed with Tong Ling he reached the final in 1981 and 1983 , in 1985 the couple failed in the semi-finals. He celebrated his greatest individual World Cup success in 1987 when he finished third.

In 1985, Chen Xinhua won the World Cup . In the ITTF world rankings , he finished fourth in 1986.

Career in England

From 1987 to 1997, Chen Xinhua lived in England. In 1990 he took the English citizenship, which entitled him to start under the English flag. He took part in the 1991 , 1993 and 1995 world championships. At the European Championships in 1992 he was runner-up with the English team, and in singles - like the European Championship in 1994 - he reached the quarter-finals. In the Team World Cup , he finished third with the English. He also qualified for the 1996 Olympic Games , but was eliminated in the first round.

In 1997, Chen Xinhua ended his career.

Clubs in Europe

In 1991, Chen Xinhua moved from the English club TTC Ormesby to the German Bundesliga for TSV Heilbronn-Sontheim . Two years later he joined the TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen . Here he only played in the 1995/96 season, then he was obliged by the Croatian club Vecernij List Zagreb .

Private

Chen Xinhua moved to England in 1987, where he married Jeanette Wood from England in December 1989. He has a child with her. After the end of his career, he returned to China in 1997, where he works as a businessman and plays golf as a hobby.
