action

A storm of the century is approaching the island town of Little Tall Island, whose inhabitants seem to form an intact community. At this time, of all times, a strange stranger named André Linoge kills an old lady for no apparent reason. Mike Anderson, the only police officer, arrests André Linoge without any resistance and locks him in a cell. From here he terrorizes residents by mind-controlling some of them to murder and suicide and revealing their darkest secrets to everyone. The "neatest person" with the "least sin" is Mike Anderson, as he was just cheating on an exam for a scholarship. Through his magical powers and with the help of his wand, Linoge breaks out of the prison cell without any problems and continues to terrorize the islanders. You now realize that it is a person with supernatural powers. He later calls on all the villagers to gather at the town hall to explain to them why he is in the island town.

Linoge keeps asking: "Give me what I want and I'll go!"

At this gathering it turns out that Linoge is a millennia-old demon possessed wizard. A comparable case is also mentioned in the Bible (The possessed Gerasener, Luke 8: 22-37). His demand: Since he is mortal, he wants to bring up a successor. To do this, he demands one of the islanders' children. Using mind control, he takes the villagers' children hostage and threatens to kill them if he is denied his request. He also threatens to kill the islanders if they don't give in. The villagers, with the exception of Anderson, ultimately give in to blackmail. After all, Mike Anderson's son Ralph is selected through a draw organized for this purpose. Linoge takes this and they both disappear. Out of grief and disappointment, Anderson separates from his wife, who had joined the villagers, leaves Little Tall Island alone and moves to San Francisco , while the villagers are haunted by events over the years, including a few deaths leads.

Years later he saw his son on the street in San Francisco with Linoge. When he tries to speak to him, he realizes that Ralph has now become a demonic person himself. It becomes clear that Linoge has completely cast a spell over him. This event strengthens Anderson's determination never to see Little Tall Island again. In his eyes she transforms into an increasingly distant memory.

Reviews

“Storm of the Century is a very well done psychological thriller by Stephen King. It has to be said that, contrary to the text on the video cover, it is actually not a horror film in the classic sense, but rather a psychological thriller, because the devil only shows people their own dark side and speaks to them about their own offenses. Storm of the Century, like 'The Stand', is really epic in design. The characters are slowly built up in the first part of the film, and as soon as you identify with them, the mysterious plot starts pretty much exactly at the beginning of the second part. "
