The 1976/77 Elitserien season was the second season of the Swedish Elitserien . Brynäs IF became Swedish champions for the second time in a row , while newly promoted Örebro IK and IF Björklöven could not prevent direct relegation.

The ten teams of the Elitserien initially played against each other in 36 season games. While the first four teams qualified for the play-offs, the last two were relegated to Division I. Each team received two points for a win, one point for a draw and zero points for a defeat.
