Evelyn Insam (born February 10, 1994 in Brixen ) is a former Italian ski jumper . It was Italian National Champion 2012 and Vice Junior World Champion 2012. Insam lives in Plan da Tieja, a district of Selva di Val Gardena , and laid in June 2013 at the sports branch of Handelsoberschule [Italian: ITC] Raetia in Ortisei the Matura from.

Insam and the Italian women's team are coached by Julien Eybert-Guillon , who was appointed in the summer of 2011 and had been hapless until then . 2003-2009 / 10

Evelyn Insam has been jumping since 2003 and took part in her first international (FIS) competition on January 18, 2006, the Ski Jumping Continental Cup 2005/06 in Toblach , where she reached 32nd place. Insam joined the Italian national team this year. Until she was accepted into the financial police's sports club, Fiamme Gialle, on December 13, 2011, Insam competed for her hometown club Sci Club Gardena .

In the 2006/07 season Insam competed in five Continental Cup competitions , twice she reached 14th place.

In the 2007/08 season Insam never came in the top twenty at the Continental Cup competitions (COC), but she secured 8th place at the Junior World Championships in Zakopane on February 28, 2008 and she won at the end of the season Silver at an FIS junior competition in Bois-d'Amont . At the Italian championship in 2008 Insam won the bronze medal behind Elena Runggaldier and Lisa Demetz .

2010/11 season

The 2010/11 season brought two major events, the Junior World Championships in Otepää (January 27, 2011) and the World Championships in Oslo (February 25, 2011), in which Insam finally established itself among the world's best with 5th and 8th place respectively. In the four summer competitions Insam fought from 31st to 12th place. The FIS Ladies Winter Tour 2011 was overshadowed by the death of her teammate Simona Senoner , which is why Insam only took part in the first competition in Schonach (7th place). Among the other 16 COC competitions of the season, Insam achieved four top ten placements: 7th place in Liberec and Schonach, 8th place in Brotterode and Zakopane . The two world championships in 2011 gave Insam the best world championship results to date: a 5th place at the Junior World Championships in Otepää and an 8th place at the World Championships in Oslo.

2011/12 season

On December 3, 2011, Insam took part in the very first ever women's world cup competition in Lillehammer and reached 6th place. This season Insam then went to twelve other World Cup competitions and ended the season on March 9, 2012 in Oslo with an 8th place and 13th place in the overall World Cup standings. At the Junior World Championships 2012 in Erzurum on February 23, 2012 Insam was 4th - behind the two great dominators Sara Takanashi and Sarah Hendrickson and the third Carina Vogt .

2012/13 season

Insam finished 20th in the Summer Grand Prix 2012, but, like many jumpers, did not take part in two of the four competitions ( Almaty ).

In 2013, Insam, the newly crowned Italian national champion, won her first two World Cup and World Championship medals: she finished second in Schonach (January 5, 2013), as well as at the Junior World Championships in Liberec (January 24, 2013). In the World Cup, Insam reached 12th place, although she had not participated in four of the 16 competitions ( Zaō , Ljubno ). The highlight of the season was the World Championships in Predazzo , Val di Fiemme , the base of the Italian national ski jumping team. Insam was eighth in the individual competition on February 22, 2013 and seventh in the mixed team competition, thus achieving her best ever World Cup result.

2013/14 season

After the training backlog caused by leaving school, Insam did not take part in the Summer Grand Prix jumping in Hinterzarten, in Courchevel (August 15, 2013) she was 47.

Insam took part in the Olympic premiere of women's ski jumping in Sochi, Russia, in February 2014. She finished fifth in the individual competition on the normal hill. After the Winter Olympics, she reached the second World Cup podium of her career on March 2, 2014 in Râşnov . She finished third behind Sara Takanashi and Jessica Jerome . In the overall World Cup , she finished 19th with 235 points at the end of the season.

Seasons 2014/15 to 2017/18

In the summer of 2014 she reached the top ten twice in ninth place in Almaty . With these results, she also landed ninth in the overall standings and thus achieved the best result of her career. In the 2014/15 World Cup , her best individual result was 17th place in Zaō . In the overall World Cup she was 36. At the Nordic World Ski Championships 2015 in Falun , she missed the finals in the individual competition as 33rd and thus remained well behind the placement of 2013. In the mixed team competition, she did not reach the final with the Italian team with ninth place.

At the 2015 Summer Grand Prix she only competed once, finishing 16th in Courchevel . The following winter, her best place in the World Cup was eleventh in Oslo . In the overall World Cup, she finished 30th. In the 2016/17 season she repeated this place in the overall ranking. Her best individual placement was only 17th in Lillehammer . At the Nordic World Ski Championships 2017 in Lahti , she repeated her result from 2015 in the individual and was 33. In the mixed team competition, she was not used.

At the Summer Grand Prix 2017 she once reached the points with place 25 in Courchevel. In the 2017/18 World Cup season , she almost always failed in qualifying, only reaching the competition once. She was in Zaō 50th and last. Despite these poor results, she took part in the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang . In the individual competition on the normal hill , she finished 34th out of 35 participants.

After Insam had already interrupted her career after the 2017/18 season, she announced her final career end in June 2019.
