The football club Illertissen eV (short FV Illertissen ) is a football club from the city of Illertissen in Bavaria . Although the club is based in Bavaria, due to its border location, it belonged to the Württemberg Football Association until the 2011/12 season . For the 2012/13 season he voluntarily moved to the Bavarian State Association .
history
FV Illertissen was founded in 1921. In 1963, the club became the first Bavarian team to win the WFV Cup by defeating SV Hussenhofen . After finishing the 2007/08 season in 3rd place in the Württemberg Association , a 4-2 draw against Kehler FV and a 2-1 draw against Amicitia Viernheim were enough for the first promotion to the Baden-Württemberg Oberliga .
In the course of the regional league reform and the change to the Bavarian football association, FV Illertissen managed to move up to the new Bavarian regional league for the 2012/13 season in fourth place . In the first regional league season, the FVI was able to secure participation in the 2013/14 DFB Cup as the best Bavarian amateur team . There, however, the Illertissen lost in the first main round with 0: 2 against Eintracht Frankfurt . The club had already waived the application for a possible professional license for the 3rd league in March 2013 due to a lack of financial support from the city of Illertissen, as the stadium capacity would have had to be increased and the turf replaced, among other things. In the following 2013/14 season, FV Illertissen was able to defend the Bavarian amateur championship with second place behind the second team of FC Bayern Munich ; thus the club secured a starting place in the first main round of the DFB Cup in the 2014/15 season. There he was eliminated by SV Werder Bremen 2-3 after extra time. In the league this time it was only enough for a place in the middle of the table; in 9th place they finished tied with the second team of FC Augsburg . The FV finished the following two seasons in fifth place, with the Croatian Ilija Aračić taking over the coaching position for Holger Bachthaler on the 13th place at the time on September 29, 2016 . After Ilija Aračić switched to VfB Stuttgart (assistant coach of the 1st team), Herbert Sailer took over the position of coach at FV Illertissen in 1921 from January 31, 2018 until the end of the season. The 2017/18 season ended for FV Illertissen in 10th place.

rivalry
There was a special rivalry with SpVgg Au / Iller , which is based in the Illertiss district of the same name. After having competed together in the association league for several years, both teams were promoted to the league in 2008. Since the promotion to the regional league, a derby rivalry has arisen with FC Memmingen .

FV Illertissen plays its home games in the Vöhlin Stadium , within the Illertissen sports center. The stadium offers 3,000 seats, including around 600 seats. The stadium is named after the patrician family of the Vöhlin , who ruled in and over Illertissen for several centuries.
Fans
A fan scene for the FV was practically non-existent for years.
A video uploaded to YouTube in May 2013 gave the club undreamt-of awareness. It shows a lonely fan, surrounded by a handful of spectators, who sings a specially made up song and beats the drum rhythmically. Especially the refrain Illertissen plays internationally made it very popular. Then the fan gave interviews and was z. B. totally invited to TV .
