Foggia Calcio is an Italian football club from the Apulian city of Foggia .
history
US Foggia was founded in 1920 as Foggia Calcio . In the early days, the club played lower class.
1964 succeeded for the first time promotion to Serie A , in which one spent three seasons. After relegation, the fans waited for first-class football until 1970, when the club managed to return to the House of Lords as runner-up in Serie B. The club was subsequently to the elevator team , because it was followed by direct relegation, but succeeded in 1973, the promotion. With only 18 points, US Foggia rose again directly, in 1976 the rise again succeeded.
At the end of the 1977/78 season , there was renewed relegation to Serie B, and the following year US Foggia crashed into the third division . However, when the Girone B was runner-up in the table, he was immediately promoted again. In 1983 the team had to relegate again to the third division.
In 1989, US Foggia returned to Serie B, and in 1991 the team returned to Serie A as champions of the second division. The team remained first class until 1995. After relegation from Serie B in 1998, the direct march into the fourth division followed. After four years, he returned to the C1 series. After the club was continuously active in the third-highest division until 2012, it was excluded from all professional leagues for financial reasons and was classified in the fourth-class Serie D for the 2012/13 season. There the club entered under the name ACD Foggia Calcio , but missed it due to a defeat in the final of the promotion playoffs, the return to professional operation initially in a sporting way.
As Foggia Calcio Srl , the club successfully applied for approval for the 2013/14 season in the fourth-class Lega Pro Seconda Divisione in July 2013 . 2017 to 2019 Foggia played back second-rate in Serie B. 2019 increased the team sports in the Series C from, for financial reasons forced into the series D .
