Georg "Schorsch" von Kaufmann (born May 24, 1907 in Munich ; † May 3, 1972 in Bernau am Chiemsee ) was a German cross-country skier and mountaineer .

Career

Georg von Kaufmann took part in the 1936 Winter Olympics in Garmisch-Partenkirchen , where he was the flag bearer of the German delegation at the opening ceremony . In the 18 km race he finished 20th. In the same year he became German champion with the 4 × 10 kilometer relay of the Bavarian Ski Association.

In addition to cross-country skiing, Georg von Kaufmann was active as a mountaineer, in 1952 he was the first to climb the east face of the Watzmann . He also worked as a folk musician and dance teacher.
