Giuseppe Dossena (born May 2, 1958 in Milan , Italy ) is a former Italian soccer player and current soccer coach .
Career
Midfielder Dossena played in Serie A from 1979 to 1992 . He began his career in 1976 at AC Turin , where he remained without a role in Serie A in the 1976/77 season and then moved to the second division AC Pistoiese . This was followed by an engagement at AC Cesena and Dossena came to Torino Calcio via Bologna FC in 1981 , where he was appointed Italian national player and in the squad for the 1982 World Cup in Spain , where he became world champion. After a 1987/88 season at Udinese Calcio , he came to Sampdoria Genoa , where he was able to celebrate his greatest club successes at the end of his career. In 1989 and 1990 he reached the final of the European Cup Winners' Cup twice with Sampdoria . In 1989 his team lost to FC Barcelona . A year later she won against RSC Anderlecht . In 1989 he won the Coppa Italia with the Blucerchiati , and also the Italian championship in the 1990/91 season . In the 1991/92 season he let his career at AC Perugia end.
After his career as a professional soccer player ended, Dossena started a career as a coach and his first engagement followed in 1998 when he took over the position of assistant coach at the US Triestina . Only a few months later he received the offer to train the Ghanaian national soccer team. At the African Cup of Nations 2000 , for which Ghana was automatically qualified as host, the quarter-finals were reached. In the 2000/01 season Dossena was signed as coach of the Libyan club Al-Ittihad . He then worked under his compatriot Cesare Maldini as an assistant coach of the Paraguayan national team .
In 2002 he was employed as the national coach of the Albanian national team , where he was in office for around six months. He later stood on the sidelines of AS Lodigiani and became sports director of the SS Sambenedettese Calcio . In August 2010 he was introduced as the coach of the Ethiopian record champions Saint-George SA . In September 2012 Dossena was fired at St. George and replaced by the German trainer Michael Krüger .
