Greatest Hits: Back to the Start ( English for: 'Greatest Hits: Back to the Beginning') is a compilation album by the American metal band Megadeth . It comprises 17 songs from albums from 1985 to 2001. Greatest Hits was released one year after the release of The System Has Failed , the band's first album after their interim breakup. However, the greatest hits album does not contain any songs from The System Has Failed .
The cover of the Greatest Hits publication shows the exploding of the hydrogen bomb Romeo during Operation Castle . The outlines of Vic Rattlehead, the band's mascot, can be seen in the mushroom. The title “Back to the Start” is based on a text passage from the song Rust in Peace ... Polaris from the album Rust in Peace .
The album was placed at number 66 on the American Billboard 200 . It was also awarded a 2011 gold record in Canada for 50,000 units sold.
