Killing Is My Business… And Business Is Good! ( English for: " Killing is my business ... and business is going well! ") is the debut album by the US thrash metal band Megadeth . It was released on Combat Records in May 1985 . Singer Dave Mustaine called the pieces on the album "extreme Thrash Speed Metal". The vocals were still very raw, the songs were less complex than on the later albums.

Emergence

In 1984 Megadeth had recorded a three-track demo , according to band founder Mustaine under great time pressure. However, the response to this had been positive. As a result, Combat Records signed the band. Drummer Lee Rash was also replaced by Gar Samuelson before the recording. Mustaine went for Killing Is My Business ... And Business Is Good! has a much harder and better sound compared to the demo. Originally the album was supposed to be released in January 1985, but the band announced beforehand that they would take their time this time “to do everything correctly.” The design of the cover did not go according to Sustaines' ideas because the record company lost the original design and so the photo of a skull, the "mascot" Vic Rattlehead, came on the cover. The record was later re-released with a different cover picture. With Mechanix one song was included Mustaine, he already at Metallica had brought, where he played before founding Megadeth. Metallica recorded a different version and made it into The Four Horsemen by Kill 'Em All .
