Hollen is a district in the municipality of Uplengen in the district of Leer in East Frisia . 1201 inhabitants live in the place, spread over 467 households. Ulrich de Buhr is the mayor.


history

Hollen was first mentioned as Holanla in the 10th century . The name is interpreted either as a holly forest or as a swampy tree area . The Evangelical Lutheran Christ Church in Hollen, a neo-Gothic successor to a pre-Reformation church, was built in 1896. On January 1, 1973, Hollen was incorporated into the new municipality of Uplengen.
