Evangelical family center "Treasure Chest on Annaberg"

The Protestant day-care center “ August Hermann Francke ” already existed at Annabergstrasse 55 .

However, at the end of September 2013, the two facilities “August Hermann Franke” and “Schatzkiste” of the Evangelical Kreuzkirche parish were merged to form the new Evangelical Family Center “Schatzkiste am Annaberg”, which now includes six groups for around 125 children. The new day care center was opened from the 2013 kindergarten year. The restructuring resulted from the new construction of the parish hall of the Kreuzkirche.

In the basement of the Kreuzkirche, where the “Schatzkiste” daycare center was previously located, new youth rooms have been created by the parish. At the same time, the community rooms on Annabergstrasse, where the second day care center “August Hermann Francke” was located, were no longer needed by the Kreuzkirche. Therefore, in mid-October 2012, the conversion of a group room and the gym into a U3 area began. A first group with six children under the age of three already existed there.

In the 2013 kindergarten year, ten crèche places for under two-year-olds were added. In order to create space for the children of the “Schatzkiste” daycare center, the community rooms on the upper floor were also rebuilt in the second construction phase. There is also a new gym there. In addition, the entrance area has been redesigned and provided with an elevator in order to better guarantee accessibility.

In the background, preparations for the merger of the two kindergartens, together with the children, parents and staff, have been running since 2009. At the moment, the main work is still taking place inside the building. The drywall work is also already in full swing.
