Location of Oeneking in Lüdenscheid

Oeneking ( Sauerland Ünnekingen) is the name of a district and belongs to the statistical district 12 (Oeneking / Stüttinghausen ) of the district town of Lüdenscheid in the western Sauerland , North Rhine-Westphalia . The district and the statistical district are located in the southwest of the contiguous urban area.

history

Since Lüdenscheid became a town in the 13th century, the Oeneking farm belonged to the town's Feldmark . The so-called "Butenbürgerrecht" applied, which equated the residents with those within the fortifications. Even in the 16th century it is certified that Oeneking always belonged to the city. Subsequently, the farm, which gradually developed into a hamlet , remained part of the city. Since the 1950s, one of the city's most preferred residential areas has been built on Oenekinger Weg, which runs parallel to Parkstrasse . As a result of the development of residential areas south of the old farmer's settlement in the 1970s, it is now in an inner-city location. The streets in the Oeneking were mainly given names of ethnic groups, such as B. Alemannenstraße, fishing path, Bayernstraße, Cimbernweg, Frankenstraße, Friesenstraße, Germanenstraße, Gotenstraße, Markomannenweg, Rugierweg, Sachsenstraße, Sugambrerweg, Teutonenstraße, Thüringer Straße, Westfalenstraße or Wikingerweg.

Infrastructure

Koelner Strasse

At the lower Oeneking itself there has been a sub-center with a discounter and supermarket as well as other retail stores on Kölner Straße for several decades . A few years ago, at the intersection of Kölner Strasse and Talstrasse, a modern new building was added, which contains a few offices, a shop and a fast food restaurant.

Starting in 2012, a new building for the St. Georg welfare organization was erected at Kölner Straße 96 on a plot of 6000 square meters . The administration is housed below, and on the two levels above there are 24 spaces, which are to be divided into six residential groups with 4 residents each. The first clients moved in in February 2014. 17 employees work in the new facility. Because of the demand for housing projects for mentally ill people in the Märkischer Kreis, the facility on Kölner Straße should primarily accommodate people from the region. The investment volume was around three million euros. The Action Man subsidized the construction and initial of the dormitory with 110,000 euros.

The community elementary school Westschule of the city of Lüdenscheid is located near the Oeneking, at Kölner Straße 71 .

The central administration of the Märkische Werkstätten is located in the building at Kölner Straße 152 . Many years ago, the Märkische Werkstätten des Evangelisches Johanneswerk eV set up a large workshop at Freisenbergstrasse 33 in the Freisenberg district and created a location for INTEGRA at 22 Kerkhagen Street on Freisenberg. Another of the workshops is located in the Wefelshohl district at Wefelshohler Straße 48.

At the upper Oeneking, on Harlingerstraße , there is a branch of the Sparkasse Lüdenscheid and many smaller shops.

Jahnplatz

In the far north-east of the Oeneking district is the skate hall on Jahnplatz , which is operated by the Skate-Club-Sauerland eV association.

A kindergarten will be built on Jahnplatz by the end of 2016. The Johannes Busch House has expressed interest in another area. A residential complex for 24 children and young people with disabilities is planned there. The Kinderschutzbund, which is housed in the Jahnstrasse 15 building, would also like to add an outdoor area to its property. The existing skater hall is to remain in existence and function. From an urban development point of view, the new buildings should fit in well with the existing residential area.

Parkstrasse

Directly next to Jahnplatz, at Parkstrasse 19, is the complex of park pool and park theater built in the early 1950s for the Belgian armed forces on front Parkstrasse . For a few years now, the building has housed a cinema center with seven screens. In the former theater foyer of the cinema, the splendid furnishings from the time of construction have largely been preserved.

A large hotel has been located on Parkstrasse 66 since the mid-1970s . It has 170 rooms and is a striking landmark in the city due to its great height. Due to its direct location at the city park, the hotel is surrounded by greenery and is also an attractive meeting point for various social events among locals.

Worth seeing

The still recognizable core of the old farmer's hamlet with the listed former farm Da Achtern is historically interesting . It is a later altered Brandenburg longitudinal house from the 17th century.

Transport links

Rail transport

The nearest station is near Station Lüdenscheid and alternatively in Lüdenscheider district Brugge the Brugge (Westfalen) station . Lüdenscheid train station can be reached in 15-20 minutes on foot, while Bruges (Westphalia) train station can be reached by car or bus in 20-30 minutes. The Bruges – Lüdenscheid railway itself runs on the outskirts of the district.

In addition, due to the large number of residents in the surrounding districts, it was considered to set up a stop at the Lüdenscheider district building. However, due to the problematic topographical location, this would be associated with very high costs. That is why they concentrated on relocating the Lüdenscheid train station and did not pursue the project any further for the time being.

Bus transport

The district is connected to local public transport mainly by bus routes 40, 47, 48, 55, 56, 58, 59, 245 and 246 (school bus routes) as well as many other inner-city and regional bus routes operated by the Märkische Verkehrsgesellschaft (MVG) and bus services Ruhr victory (BRS) .

The A45 federal motorway itself leads north to Hagen and Dortmund and south to Siegen , Wetzlar , Gießen and Frankfurt am Main . Another alternative junction is exit 15 Lüdenscheid-Süd of the A45 federal motorway. The two federal highways B54 and B229 are also near the Oeneking and can be easily reached within a few minutes by car. Some parking spaces within the Oeneking ensure that drivers can park there.
