Location of Ramsberg in Lüdenscheid

Ramsberg is the name of a district and belongs to the statistical district 02 (Ramsberg / Hasley / Baukloh ) of the district town of Lüdenscheid in the western Sauerland , North Rhine-Westphalia . The district and the statistical district are located south of downtown Lüdenscheid .

history

Today's district of Ramsberg has belonged to the urban field mark since Lüdenscheid became a town in the 13th century . Its southern border was formed until 1425 by the Spolmecke brook , the right tributary of the Elspe , which today is accompanied along its entire length by the valley road ( B 229 ). In that year, the sovereign who gave Graf von der Mark , the south to Freigut popular field with Nattenberg and today's city forest Nurre the city, which its territory was enlarged significantly. The areas that were added at the time now also belong to the statistical district of Ramsberg, as do the densely built-up southern slopes between the city center and Talstrasse east of the Ramsberg district.

Renovations in the district

The three multi-family houses from 1922 at Kölner Straße 83 - 87 will be completely renovated in 2013. 24 modern city apartments with south-facing balconies are to be built in the buildings over the next few weeks. The apartments should therefore each be equipped with a daylight bathroom with bathtub and floor-level shower as well as a controlled ventilation system. The houses themselves were built in the 1920s because of the severe housing shortage. The old facades of these houses are among the most interesting and distinctive in the district. That is why the owners applied for entry in the Lüdenscheid list of monuments in August 2012. Previously, the same owners had already completely renovated a total of 19 apartments in the houses at Kölner Straße 97-101, below the confluence with Lohmühlenstraße, and re-let them within a very short time.

Jewish cemetery, group of historical grave monuments

Worth seeing

The New Jewish Cemetery is located in the south of the district . After the original burial site on the corner of Knapperstrasse and Lösenbacher Strasse was closed , numerous historical grave monuments were brought here in 1955. The area on the Ramsberg is mostly closed, but it is easy to see from a neighboring footpath.

Settlement and infrastructure of the district

The actual district of Ramsberg is located on a mountain spur southwest of the city center. To the west to Kölner Straße , to the east to Südstraße and to the south to the Spolmecketal (Talstraße) the terrain slopes mostly steeply; the steep slopes are covered with forest. The flatter summit is accessed by a ring road and spur roads. As can still be seen from the substance of the building, development began in the northern area close to the city center around 1900. The larger southern part of the district was developed in the 1950s and early 1960s. Some upscale single-family houses and apartment buildings of different sizes were built. It is a residential area with only a few small businesses. In the north is the building of the New Apostolic congregation Lüdenscheid Mitte . Due to the topography, the district can only be reached by road from the north. Footpaths and paths open up the steep slopes and ensure quick access to Nurre and the Nattenberg sports center .

Below the Ramsberg, at Kölner Straße 71, there is also the community elementary school Westschule of the city of Lüdenscheid. At Friedrich-Wilhelm-Straße 19 there is also the municipal children's and teenage club, Haus der Jugend, which offers various activities.
