Hu Chunhua ( Chinese  胡春华 ; * 1963 in Wufeng , Hubei Province ) is a politician in the People's Republic of China . He is counted among the sixth generation of leaders in the People's Republic of China .

Hu was born Wang Chunhua in a poor village in Wufeng Autonomous County of the Tujia people. Hu also belongs to the Tujia minority . He took his mother's family name and is not related to the former President Hu Jintao . He was an exceptional student and got a place at Peking University . After graduating from university, he applied to work in Tibet .

After joining the Chinese Communist Party in 1983 , Tibet began a steep rise in the Party's hierarchy. This was promoted by Li Keqiang and Hu Jintao. The posts for which he was selected included that of Deputy Party Secretary of the Autonomous Region and Vice Chairman of the Government of Tibet. He is known in China for his very good knowledge of Tibetan , to which his mother tongue Tujia (also a Tibetan- Burman language ) certainly contributed. His successes include the revitalization of the Tibetan economy, the fight against separatist organizations and the settlement of more Han Chinese migrants.

In 2008, Hu was appointed governor of Hebei Province. Hebei was the epicenter of the Chinese milk scandal , but Hu survived the scandal unscathed. This may be due to the protection of Hu Jintao.

In November 2009 he was appointed party secretary for the Inner Mongolia Region . He succeeded Chu Bo , who had led the region to rapid economic growth, but which was accompanied by massive environmental damage from mining companies and widespread corruption, which had drawn the party's disciplinary commission to his attention. In this position he developed a two-pronged strategy against the unrest in Inner Mongolia in 2011 , consisting of arbitration and decisive action by the security authorities. The short-term pacification of this conflict contributed significantly to its high reputation.

He has been a member of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party since 2007 . In November 2012, he was elected to the CCP Political Bureau . From December 2012 to 2017, he held the post of party secretary in southern China's Guangdong Province . He has been Deputy Prime Minister of the People's Republic of China since 2018 .
