Irina Lazareanu
Irina Lăzăreanu (born June 8, 1982 in Romania ) is a Canadian musician and photo model .
Life
When she was four years old, Lazareanu and her parents were taken to a refugee camp in Salzburg . She grew up in Montreal . When she was thirteen she received a scholarship to the Ballet School of the Royal Academy in London . Her dance career was ended by a knee injury.
She was briefly the drummer for the band Babyshambles and was in a relationship with singer Pete Doherty . When she was 15 she met 18-year-old Doherty. She later toured with him and his future girlfriend, British model Kate Moss . After all, it was Moss who introduced her to the modeling industry. A little later she was featured on the covers of some well-known fashion magazines, such as Vogue . Moss chose Lazareanu to be the guest editor of French Vogue for the December / January issue of Vogue Paris. Steven Meisel photographed Lazareanu for the cover of Italian Vogue . Since then, Lazareanu has been a sought-after photo model who, in addition to various photo shoots, also works as a catwalk model at fashion shows . After Lazareanu was seen on 76 catwalks in one season, she was called "the fashion tornado". She works for many top designers, including Chanel, Balenciaga (where she became the muse of Nicolas Ghesquière ), Alexander McQueen , Anna Sui , Lanvin , Versace , Michael Kors , Marc Jacobs , Missoni , Pucci , Burberry , Fendi .
Karl Lagerfeld chose Lazareanu in 2006 as the new face of the Chanel brand . Lagerfeld described Lazareanu as "a mixture of Coco Chanel and Anna de Noailles ".
She is under contract with the agencies Marilyn (New York and Paris), Why Not Models (Milan), Storm Models (London) and Giovanni (Montreal).
In March 2007 Lazareanu was chosen by Moss as the model for their new TopShop line.
Apart from her modeling career, she is also known as a songwriter. Together with Sean Lennon she recorded her debut album, which is expected to be called Some Place Along the Way . Lagerfeld let her and Lennon present their music at his Chanel show in December 2007.
In addition to Doherty, Lazareanu was also dating Jamie Hince from The Kills .
