final

Steve Davis had already won the tournament 6 times , twice as often as the second best participant Terry Griffiths . He hadn't lost a final in Kill since 1983. He had also won three titles this season, two of them just a few weeks earlier. Alan McManus also had a very successful season, he was in the final for the fourth time, but he had lost three times before. He had reached the top of the world, but he was still missing the first big win. At the 1992 Asian Open , the two had met once in the final, when Davis had won. Their last two encounters in 1993 were McManus.

Both players started strong, the lead of Davis equaled McManus with a Century break , whereupon the English countered with a 93 break and his own Century. McManus just won the fifth frame with the last black, but Davis took the initial momentum with him and with further high breaks he extended his lead to 6: 2 by the end of the session. The Scot was already under pressure. He resisted and with two frames he had won, he came back to 4: 6 in the evening. But then it was Davis' turn again and got the next two frames. Not only did he restore the old gap, but he was only one frame away from victory. McManus had his chances again in the 13th frame, but in the end Steve Davis finished to a clear 9: 4 victory and his 7th Irish Masters title.
