The Irish Masters 2004 was a snooker tournament of the 2003/04 season that was held from March 21 to 28, 2004 at the Citywest Hotel in Dublin . It was the fourth time it was held in the Irish capital, but it was only the second time that it was a world ranking tournament .
Ronnie O'Sullivan was eliminated as defending champion in the quarter-finals against Peter Ebdon . Ebdon then won the tournament for the second time after 1995 . He defeated Mark King in the final 10-7.
Prize money / world ranking points
The prize money remained almost unchanged from the previous year, but it was distributed slightly differently. The finalists didn't change, from the semifinals to the round of 16 there was a little more. The qualifiers who were eliminated in Round 2 also received £ 1,050 instead of £ 800 . For everyone else it was a little less.

Main tournament
As in the previous year, the main round in Dublin was played with 32 players, whereby the top 16 of the world rankings were set for round 1.
Top 32 to the final
In the tournament schedule, the top 16 players in the world were drawn from the 16 players who had previously passed the qualification. As in the previous year, Best of 9 was played in the first two rounds , Best of 11 in the quarter and semi-finals. The final was decided over 10 winning frames (Best of 19).
final
For Peter Ebdon it was the first final after his world championship title in 2002 and a previous season without a win. For the third time he was in the final of the Irish Masters, in 1995 he had already won once. Mark King had only reached the final once in his career: in 1997 at the Welsh Open , where he lost. Of the four encounters between the two players so far, each had won two. This game was also balanced for a long time. The narrow 5: 4 lead for Ebdon after session 1 was compensated by King with the highest tournament break of 138 points at the beginning of the evening session. But that rather inspired Ebdon, who took the lead again with a 92-point break and for the first time achieved a 3-frame lead with two more contested frames. He kept this distance until the end and won the game 10: 7. For Peter Ebdon it was the 10th victory in a professional tournament and the 6th in a tournament for world ranking points.
