Jörg Echtermann

Jörg Echtermann (* 1958 in Neuwied ) is a former German racing cyclist . In 1983 he won the “Green Belt” as the best German road racing driver .

Life

Jörg Echtermann completed an apprenticeship as an insurance salesman. In the early 1970s he wore the jersey of the national team, was twice German champion in the single pursuit , won the amateur version of Rund um den Henninger-Turm , Rund um Köln (1982), Köln-Schuld-Frechen (1984) and won the At that time the German amateur road cycling annual ranking Brügelmann Cup . From 1984 he was trained by Klaus-Peter Thaler with the aim of qualifying for the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles , which he did not succeed. In 1989 he was again German champion, in the team time trial with the RSG Wiesbaden ( Mathias Egyed , Jörg Weida and Jens Zemke ). In 1979 he was able to win a six-day race for amateurs (in Zurich ) with his partner Markus Bodo Zehner .

In 2003, at the age of 45, Echtermann won the world champion title in the Masters individual time trial .
